Introduction
One-to-one online tuition has many benefits. As a class teacher, I know that often in the classroom, we get limited face to face time with each child in a class of 20 or more students. With online English tuition, there is so much more scope to give dedicated time to your child, understand their strengths and potential areas for development, and give tailored feedback in real time. Your child will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and will not be judged but gently encouraged to reach the next steps in their learning.

Here’s how to make the most out of their tuition experience:
1. Regular note-taking is essential
It’s invaluable if students write down specific advice and guidance that they’re given. In the case of tricky grammar rules, for example, it helps them to refer back to it as they complete their exercises online and remember all the techniques!
2. Regular attendance is key
Whether your child has tuition sessions of once a week, twice a week or more, it’s best for them to attend regularly for consistent and progressive outcomes. In the same way as a regular attendance record at school allows children to build on their work and get to the next level, it’s exactly the same with tuition sessions. There are a total of 168 hours in a week – missing out on just one tuition session, means that there are hundreds of hours to go before the next one, which could have an impact on their performance. While it may not always be possible to keep to the arranged dates and times, please reschedule any one-off lesson they cannot attend to ensure that they don’t miss out on the learning.
3. Regular reports and teacher feedback is synergystic
A three-way feedback model between parent, teacher and tutor helps to make sure your child receives the best support and guidance possible. It’s helpful to provide any reports and feedback for your child’s literary attainment from the school to help identify and close gaps in learning and measure progress.
4. Regular homework is beneficial
Homework will br provided once a week which allows your child to embed the techniques that they have learnt about during the session. Students who made the effort to complete homework, usually attain higher results as the flow of understanding is constantly enriched through the extra practice.
